CPP Supply four 9370 UPS's - Install and Project Manage for Petroleum Geophysical Services

Computer Power Protection (CPP) recently completed a major installation of a large 1 MVA UPS system for Petroleum Geophysical Services. Being independent, Computer Power Protection provide impartial advice and offer the best solution for a particular application, whether it is for a 200VA off-line ups unit, or a 800KVA plus parallel system that requires full project management.

PGS is a technology focused oilfield service company principally involved in providing geophysical services worldwide and floating production services in the North Sea. PGS provides a broad range of geophysical and reservoir services, including seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation plus field evaluation. In the North Sea, PGS owns and operates four floating production, storage and offloading units.

In Walton on Thames PGS have one of their largest global data processing centres. The site is running 24 hrs a day 365 days a year PGS contacted Computer Power Protection to help them expand and design a new fault tolerant and expandable system UPS system that could accommodate rapid expansion of the site. “This was a big job, we needed a lot of additional power going in the building that needed monitoring, it is amazing to see this type of job managed so effortlessly and professionally. CPP increased the site capability by installing four Powerware 9370’s UPS modules over a period of two years as the site developed. The project involved installing a new 1600 Amp supply, supply and install all the low voltage switchgear, UPS system and through to the connected loads. This installation was fully project managed during the CPP staff during this period. The system is fully monitored using Powervision a Powerware product. Powervision is a management system that continuously monitors the entire network of UPS’s, reporting and recording all major system parameters.
