CPP deliver a 9120 for Alpha Cars

09/11/2010

Computer Power Protection is one of the UKs leading independent suppliers of Uninterruptible Power Supplies and has been successfully providing quality power protection systems for over two decades. In December 2009, Computer Power Protection received an emergency call from Alpha Taxis, Liverpool.

Being a modern taxi company with a totally computerised and up to date telephone system including innovative features such as taxi tracking etc, Alpha realised that if there was a problem with the power supply the office and more than 200 taxi drivers could be affected and unable to work in late December, the busiest time of the year.

On 14th December, Del Fullwood, Director of Computer Power Protection visited the taxi office to confirm the power consumption of the equipment to be protected – telephones, computers and radio equipment all needed to be covered by a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). The unit CPP recommended was the Eaton Powerware 9120 6kVA along with support from 2 additional battery extension packs to provide a longer back up times.

The UPS was delivered from the Eaton warehouse a week before Christmas and was successfully installed on the 22nd of December. A day later the second battery extension arrived and was promptly connected.

As a result Alpha Taxis can rest assured safe in the knowledge that they have approximately 3 hours battery backup. With the addition of a 12kVA diesel generator they have unlimited power backup and a 9120 6kVA dual conversion UPS in place to clean up and power problems from the generator.
